State to distribute 90 lakh sarees for Bathukamma this year

Textiles Minister KT Rama Rao today set a deadline to weavers to complete weaving of 90 lakh Bathukamma sarees by September end. He conducted a review meeting on the works of Bathukamma sarees, with  Apparel Export Parks Gundla Pochampally and Pasha Mylaram at the camp office here attended by Siricilla master weavers and Max society delegates and officials.       

The minister advised them to increase the speed of the weaving the sarees and work in two shifts to ensure that the women folk in the state get them during Bathukamma festival. The officials informed that 10000 power-looms working right now and the same number will be increased soon to reach the target. KTR said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao aims to gift Sarees to women in the state to mark Bathukamma state festival. The weavers should get benefit through the works and improve their living standards by reaching the targets with quality production,  he said.

The government will give loans and arrange for Mudra loans to the weavers by calling a meeting of finance minister E Rajender with officials. He also said that soon he will meet Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani in Delhi and seek her help to resolve issues and challenges of power-looms upgradation scheme and others.
