Karnataka Congress leader SR Patil resigns

Taking moral responsibility for the party’s unsatisfactory performance in the elections, senior Congress leader SR Patil who was working as Karnataka Congress Committee president has resigned.

On May 25 Patil had mailed his resignation letter to Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is currently abroad, is yet to reply to the letter.

On Sunday 69-year-old Patil told reports at Hubballi,”The Congress high command reposed faith in me and gave me the responsibility to ensure victories in as many as constituencies in north Karnataka. However, I could not ensure the victory of the Congress candidates. Hence, I have decided to resign.”
