Jet Airways apologizes for delay in salary payment

In a move that raises further questions on the financial position of Jet Airways, the airline has informed its employees that they are working on a solution to pay the salaries for the month of September but did not offer any definite plan for it. In an email sent to its employees on Sunday evening, the airline said: “First of all, we would like to apologise for the delayed payment of your salaries and appreciate your patience in this matter. We remain committed towards your dues and profusely thank you for doing what you do for Jet Airways every day.”

“We would like to inform that we have met with the pilots’ representatives and are working towards a solution, which will be communicated in the coming week,” the email further read. Due to financial trouble, Jet Airways had last month announced that the airline will pay its employees salary in two equal instalments – first 50% on 11th and rest on 27th of every month till November. The airline, even last month, could not pay the rest 50% in full on September 27th and paid the full salary only on October 8, 2018. The airline also did not pay the first instalment of September’s salary that was due on October 11, 2018.
