Chaos at Mahankali temple, police fail in managing crowds

The two day Bonalu festivities at the historic Sri Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad started on a sour note as thousands thronged the temple starting as early as 4 a.m. in the morning but as politicians started coming, women with bonams were stopped leading to ruckus.

Long serpentine queues were seen from Ramgopal pet police station and general bazaar areas.

In spite of 3000 policemen deployed for the security arrangements the crowds went berserk and traffic came to a halt.  

Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhara Rao and other Ministers are visiting for the darshan of goddess Mahankali tension prevailed in the premises. At one time police lost control over the crowd. North zone DCP with officials entered the scene and controlled the mob and bring the situation under control to prevail normalcy at the temple surroundings.

Police haven’t allowed the media to reach media point which was allocated to them for the coverage. Journalists staged dharna against the police deeds  and they complained Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy
