Swachh’ campaign launched in OGH

Buoyed by the good response received from ‘Swachh Gandhi’ Campaign in the first 6months of operations, City Based NGO, Helping Hand Foundation is now collaborating with Osmania General Hospital to improve the hygiene and sanitation in the hospital.

Leveraging the best practices from the experience gained at Gandhi Hospital, the Volunteers of the NGO along with the hospital staff will engage & sensitize the patients, patient attenders and other healthcare workers through a well-structured program.

The campaign will cover relevance of personal hygiene including good hand washing methods, waste disposal particularly food disposal by attenders, keeping the washrooms clean, restricting the number of attenders in IP wards particularly children, sensitizing attenders on keeping the waiting areas /halls clean by adopting anti-littering measures.

Dr. B. Nagender Superintendent, OGH formally launched the program and said that this is a very significant step taken by the hospital in colloborations by the NGO and will go a long way in improving hygiene factor in OGH.

15 Volunteers from HHF along with sanitation staff of OGH will be visiting IP wards and Waiting areas of the hospital daily between 2 and 4pm daily to sensitize various target groups within the hospital.

The Volunteers will also be equipped with garbage bags, brooms and other cleaning material and will clean the hospital wards and open areas, this is important as it drives a sense of responsibility in keeping the hospital premises clean by patient/attenders from what we have seen in other hospitals said Mr. Mujtaba Hasan Askari of Helping Hand Foundation.

The NGO said its focus will be on sensitization and bringing about a behavioral change in the patients and attenders which is vital component of  improving the hygiene in OGH – We will also collect feedback and share with hospital administration for improvements that are required on the infra side from the patient’s perspective
