SUPREME COURT GIVES GREEN SIGNAL TO HOLD PANCHAYAT ELECTIONS IN AP

PANCHAYAT ELECTIONS IN AP

Supreme Court of India today gave green signal to hold panchayat elections in the state. A division bench comprising of justice Sanjay Kaul and Justice Hrishikesh Roy delivered the verdict on the issue. The bench made it clear that it would not allow the destruction of Indian constitution. It also made it clear that the ongoing covid 19 vaccination was not a hindrance for holding the rural local body elections. It also observed the employees unions of the state were acting against law while noting that it would not interfere with the decision of the state elections commission. It told the employees’ union that they did not have any role to play in the disputed issues between two systems of the country. Making it clear that the elections are being held across the country, it said that the organisation of the elections is the routine process in the Indian constitution.
