Massive arrangements are in place for the two-day tour of AICC President Rahul Gandhi to Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts on August 13 & 14.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President . N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with senior leaders including AICC Telangana Incharge R.C. Khuntia and others, reviewed all the arrangements for Rahul Gandhi’s tour. He also visited Exhibition Society Grounds on Sunday where the special bus, likely to be used by Rahul Gandhi, was being given final touches. Later, he held a series of meetings to discuss various aspects related to the AICC President’s tour programme.
“Rahul Gandhi’s tour is of historic importance. He is visiting Telangana at a time when all sections of the society have lost hopes from the present TRS and BJP Governments. The Congress president will not only expose the failures of TRS and BJP regime, but will highlight the Congress party’s plans to change the situation. Unlike past, we did not focus on mobilising large number of people in one big public meeting. Instead, we are organising interactive meetings with select groups wherein Rahul Gandhi can deliver a specific message to them,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress president would highlight the issues concerning women of Telangana who had remained neglected under TRS regime. The present KCR Government has discontinued Abhay Hastham Pension and offered no support to over 70 lakh women who are associated with nearly 6 lakh Self Help Groups. Congress party is preparing a comprehensive plan for the empowerment of women SHGs and Rahul Gandhi is likely to elaborate on them.
Similarly, the meeting at Serilingampally will be focussed on failure of TRS Government in pressuring the Centre for implementing the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. “KCR has failed to get a steel plant at Bayyaram, Railway Coach Factory at Qazipet, Tribal University or any other sop. Instead of being apologetic for their failures, TRS leaders are shamelessly targeting Congress party for supporting Special Status for AP,” he said and reminded that once KCR had claimed that he was a party to drafting of AP Reorganisation Act. “Was he not aware of seven mandals of Khammam being given to AP? Is it not true that Kavitha and even KCR had supported Special Category Status for AP?” he asked.
“KCR is acting like PM Modi’s agent. TRS has supported all the decisions taken by the BJP-led NDA Government since beginning. It never lodged any protest against the injustices being done with Telangana,” he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party not only granted statehood, but also ensured that entire revenue of Hyderabad comes to Telangana. Being a national party, Congress cannot do injustice with other State. Therefore, it had announced Special Cateogry Status for AP. He said that the Congress party would re-assure support and protection to people hailing from Seemandhra region living in Hyderabad. He said they would also be given prominence in ticket allocation for Assembly and Lok Sabha and also in the next government.
The TPCC chief said that Rahul Gandhi will expose how KCR Government has cheated the youth and students in his meeting at Saroornagar Stadium. He said thousands of students and jobless youth are likely to participate in the meeting.
Uttam Kumar Reddy has blamed the TRS Government for denial of permission for holding Rahul Gandhi’s meeting in the Osmania University and also at Hockey Ground, Masab Tank. “Rahul Gandhi will be visitingHyderabad in the month of September and we will organise meetings at these two places, come what may,” he announced.
Reacting to reports on possibility of early polls, Uttam Kumar Redy said that the Congress party was ready to face and win elections, whenever they are held. He said Rahul Gandhi’s tour has already rejuvenated the entire party and cadre was working hard to bring the party back to power in next elections.
