New Vande Bharat Trains Incorporated With Several Features for Enhanced Passenger Comfort

The New Vande Bharat trains have been incorporated with several improvements.

 These changes will make travel by Vande Bharat more safe, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and memorable for the passengers.

The pride of Indian Railways – Vande Bharat Express – is continuosly being  improved and upgraded taking into account the suggestions given by passengers to make the travel experience more memorable and comfortable. A host of technological changes are being undertaken continuously to ensure that the already high satisfaction levels being expressed by the passenegrs are maintained to make Vande Bharat the preferred mode of transport for the travelling public.

Currently, 25 pairs of Vande Bharat Trains are being operated across Indian Railways. In South Central Railway, two pairs i.e., between Secunderabad – Tirupati – Secuderabad and Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam – Secuderabad have been running successfully with nearly 120% patronage. The Ministry of Railways have plans to introduce additional Vande Bharat Trains across Indian Railways including South Central Railway.

In this regard, Raiwlays have been continuously taking suggestions/feedback from the passengers. Based on the experinece as well as the passenger feedback, several improvements have been incororated into the New Vande Bharat Trains to make it more comfortable, safer, aesthetic and energy efficient. These include:

  1. Reclination angle of the seats has been increased from 17.31 to 19.37 to make it more comfortable for the passengers.
  2. Optimization of hardness of cushion (reduction from 290N to 250N – 25% deformation)
  3. Color of seat in Executive Chair Car (ECC) has been changed from Red to pleasant blue.
  4. Improved accessibility of mobile charging point under the seats
  5. Extended foot rest for seats in ECC.
  6. Provision of Magazine bags for end-seats of ECC class as well.
  7. Increase in wash basin depth to avoid splashing of water in lavatories.
  8. Lighting in toilets improved from 1.5 watts to 2.5 watts.
  9. Toilet handle given additional bend for improved grip.
  10. Provision of Water tap aerator for better water flow control.
  11. Standardization of colors for toilet panels for providing uniformty.
  12. Provision of securing point for wheel chairs of Divyangjan passengers in Driving Trailer coaches, where provision for Divyangjan seat is provided.
  13. Improved upper trim panel for better aesthetics and firmness of panels in coaches.
  14. Improved hammer box cover for easy access in case of emergency.
  15. Borderless emergency talk back unit (to interact with driver in case of emergency) to match with panel background.
  16. Hinged transparent door assembly for the fire extinguishers in coaches to have better visibility in case of emergency.
  17. Modified panels of single piece construction of FRP panels to improve aesthetics inside the coaches.
  18. Improved air tightness for better air conditioning with insulation over panels.
  19. Improved roller blind fabric with more tear strength with less transparency.
  20. Hatch doors for electrical maintenance doors in trailer coaches for easy maintenance.
  21. Smooth touch controls for luggage rack lights by change from resistive touch to capacitive touch.
  22. Uniform colored driver desk in Driving Trailer Coaches for better visibility and aesthetics.
  23. Interchange of emergency stop push button in driver control panel for easy operation and access for loco pilot.
  24. Improved aerosol based fire detection and suppression system inside the coaches.
  25. High Rise pantographs in areas where the landscape and OHE are in higher position.
