A cement-laden truck ran amok mowing down at least 5 ‘Dappu’ artists, who died on the spot, and injuring three others at Tana Vaddipalle village in Pileru of Chittoor district today, according to police.
The accident occurred when the truck hit a group of artists returning from a village fair called Nallagangamma Jatra, police said.
The injured were shifted to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati. The truck driver, meanwhile, escaped after the accident. Police are investigating.
