Breast feeding must, say experts 

Rainbow Children’s Hospitals organized a Cycle Rally from Gachibowli Stadium as part of its observance of World Breast Feeding Week from August 1 to 7. The Rally was organized to promote and create awareness among women to encourage Breast Feeding by Mother immediately after child’s birth.

The rally was flagged off by Dr Dinesh Kumar Chirla, Director, Rainbow Children’s Hospital on Sunday morning. The rally was organized in two groups -one for 10 km and another for 5 km. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dinesh Kumar has explained the need for Breast Feeding by Mother immediately after delivery. He advised mothers to start feeding their babies immediately after the birth as it contains protein and antibodies that will help give a baby great start. He said in Telangana only 35% of mothers are giving their first milk. He opined that awareness must be created so that this percentage can be improved in the State. 
He also explained that breast feeding will reduce chances of getting cancer and will also allow a pregnant women’s body to restore normalcy after delivery. He said breast milk will improve IQ of baby and also develops immune system that can fight with allergies and other diseases.
