Be alert over heavy rains: KTR tells officials

Municipal minister K T Rama Rao today instructed officials to  issue notices and vacate people from the dilapidated and old buildings in the twin cities and other districts as heavy rains were forecast. 

The minister asked them to prevent recurrence traffic jams that recently caused much inconvenience to road users. 

At a review meeting he directed the GHMC chief Lokesh Kumar and state officials to be more alert on the heavy rains.  The officials should form special and emergency teams to help people in low lying areas amid rains.  Form special teams to check a d initiate steps at areas inundated with rain waters and floods he asked. 

The meteorological officials alerted of more heavy rainfall for two to three days he said.  Keeping that alert in view the official should be alert at the low lying areas take steps to protect lives he said. 

The minister said that some places may hit by 9 cm to 16 cm rainfall and we need to be more cautious,  the minister said.

Lokesh Kumar has instructed officials to form emergency and special teams to check  inundation and regulate traffic. The commissioner asked for  clear nalas,  roads of waters and ensure free flow of traffic on main  roads.
