Seven persons including three policemen and two Fire & Emergency Service men died, as a snow avalanche struck police post building at Jawahar Tunnel tube on Kashmir side of Srinagar Jammu national highway, in Jammu & Kashmir, Friday evening. Three police personnel were rescued alive while another policeman is still missing from the spot.
Official sources said the joint rescue team of Army, Police, CRPF & SDRF will today continue to trace out the missing Selection Grade Constable Parvaiz Ahmad. The rescued personnel are recuperating in the hospital. Meanwhile, a high-level avalanche warning has been issued by Snow & Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) Chandigarh for the higher reaches of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts for today.
The divisional administration Kashmir has put in place all precautionary, rescue and relief plans wherever required in view of any eventuality arising out of weather related eventuality in Kashmir region.
