PV Sindhu gave her mother the best birthday gift as she won the BWF World Championships on Sunday to become the first Indian shuttler to win a gold medal in the tournament’s history. Sindhu completely blew away her opponent, world number three Nozomi Okuhara, 21-7 21-7 in a one-sided final in just 38 minutes in the women’s singles final in Basel.
After the match, Sindhu dedicated the win to her mother, who celebrated her birthday on Sunday. “I dedicate this award to my mom, it’s her birthday today. Happy birthday mom,” PV Sindhu said after the final in Basel on Sunday.
