Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with officials from the State Finance and Planning departments, renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CEGIS Foundation for the next five years, as part of strengthening data-driven governance and improving the efficiency of public expenditure in Telangana.
The MoU was as part of continuing the collaboration that took place between 2019 and 2024. The special meeting was held in the Secretariat on Monday, where the MOU was signed in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, State Finance department Special Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Planning department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Founder of the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States Foundation, Professor Karthik Muraleedharan, Project Director Harinarayan, and Planning Director Om Prakash.
The CEGIS will also provide analytical support in augmenting the State’s revenue. In addition, CEGIS will also support in analysing efficiency of energy utilities by reducing the average cost of supply, efficiency of power purchase agreements and efficient energy use for end consumers.
The CEGIS Foundation, since 2019, has worked alongside the Planning and Finance departments and key line departments such as Education, Women Development and Child Welfare, Agriculture to co-create interventions and strengthen governance for better developmental outcomes.
CEGIS Foundation works with State governments in India for bringing large-scale governance reforms, and is currently working with Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, Bodoland Territorial Council in Assam and a few Government of India institutions.
