Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said the TDP was a party of women and added that whatever a programme, the government had undertaken, it was done keeping the women in mind.
“NTR had given women an equal share in the property. A person who did not give a share to his mother and sister had earlier served as the CM.
If reservation is implemented, 70-75 women MLAs would have been present in the assembly. Even in countries like the US, there is no equality for women and there is a need for a change in the society,” he said.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu spoke in the Assembly on the issue of women empowerment. Talking about women’s empowerment, he said women are still being discriminated against.
Women are still looked down upon. The situation where women depend on someone at every stage, women’s empowerment started from TDP,” he added.
Stating that women should be encouraged in education, he said Suryakumari, who was selected with the 33% reservation given to the women, is now the secretary of the Women & Child Development department.
He said the President of India Droupadi Murmu and Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had set an example for the women.
He said during the previous TDP regime, they encouraged girls by giving those bicycles and added that they were now providing three gas cylinders free of cost in a year under Deepam-2 scheme.
