AICC Incharge & MP Manickam Tagore, TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy and other leaders lauded 68 leaders who were arrested for holding dharna at Home Minister’s residence in Ministers’ Quarters in protest against the rise in atrocities against women, especially the Moinabad and Khammam incident. AICC Secretary A. Sampath Kumar, TPCC Minorities Dept Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail, Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav, NSUI President B. Venkat, SC Cell Chairman Preetam and others were felicitated.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam praised the party leaders for sending a strong message to the government that the Congress party would not remain silent on public issues. He said that the Congress leaders should not worry about arrests or cases as they were fighting for the people and not for any personal gains. He said that the Congress party was all set to win the next elections and it would withdraw all the cases. He said that the Congress cadre should not fear about anything and keep fighting on public issues. He said that it would be an honour to go to jail while fighting for the people.
He said that the Congress party’s fight on public issues would continue. He also slammed the government officials, especially some IPS officials and alleged that they have turned into ‘Kalvakuntla Police Sainyam’. He said that the Congress party would play its role as a responsible opposition and it would come to power in next elections.
Later, Manickam Tagore and Uttam Kumar Reddy held meetings to review the preparations for Dubbak and MLC elections.
