The SCR general manager assures that the remaining 87 unmanned level crossings would be eliminated by the end of 2018
The South Central Railway (SCR) has eliminated 60 Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLC) in the last two months and officials said that the remaining 87 ULMCs would be removed by the end of the year. Hyderabad Division of South Central Railway has eliminated all Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLC) on all routes in its jurisdiction with the completion of Road Under Bridge at the last UMLC on 25th May 2018.
Secunderabad and Vijayawada divisions have already achieved the target by eliminating all the UMLCs. With these achievements entire Telangana and most of Andhra Pradesh states have become safe regions regarding safety at UMLCs.
In order to provide enhanced safety and avoid loss of human lives due to accidents at UMLCs, Vinod Kumar Yadav, general manager, SCR focused on the elimination of all Unmanned Level Crossings over the Zone.
The Zone has also prepared a roadmap to eliminate remaining 87 UMLCs over the jurisdiction by September 2018 with the encouragement provided by General Manager.
South Central Railway also eliminated 137 UMLCs during the financial year 2017-18 through various measures like manning the gates, construction of Road Under Bridges/ Limited Height Subways and by the diversion of road traffic.
