#MeToo movement has taken film industries in India by a storm. Many film personalities have been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. One among them is filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who has been accused of multiple sexual misconducts. Recently, in an interview, Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha was asked about his friend Subhash Ghai, with whom he has worked in multiple hit films in the past, he said that while the MeToo movement is noble, it is becoming “free-for-all” and being blown out of proportion.
He said that he believes in the notion of innocent until proven guilty. And further added, “I am all for the #MeToo movement, never in my 40-year career have I misbehaved with any woman. I treat every lady with utmost respect. Having said that, I think this #MeToo campaign is being blown out of all proportion.”
When further asked about being blown out of proportion bit, he explained, “While the cause was definitely noble and praiseworthy, it has now become a free-for-all. Anyone can name and shame anyone. Reputations and jobs are being lost through a trial by media. To all the women who are aggrieved, I say, please go to court and make sure the wrongdoers are punished.”
