Share Market Update: Domestic equity indices end with modest gains

Equity benchmark BSE Sensex today overcame a weak start to logged gain led by auto, IT and finance stocks. Domestic indices climbed even as global markets dived after US announced fresh tariffs on Chinese imports. However, the rupee plunged 54 paise against the US dollar. Sensex, at Bombay Stock Exchange, surged 100 points or 0.27 per cent to end at 37,118. Nifty at National Stock Exchange also added 17 point or 0.16 per cent to settle at 10,997.

However, the rupee at forex market plunged 54 paise to 69 rupees and 60 paise against the US dollar. Gold prices today declined by 165 rupees to 35,630 rupees per 10 gram in Delhi bullion market. Silver, however, firmed up by 370 rupees to 41,900 rupees per kg.  And Brent crude prices were trading around 62 dollars and 70 cents per barrel in intraday trade.
