Senior Congress leader Jaipal Reddy dies at 77 | news updates

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy passed away in Hyderabad last night. He was 77. Reddy was admitted to a hospital with a high fever a few days back and was undergoing treatment. Reddy was Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Urban Development, Petroleum and Natural Gas and Science and Technology in different governments. He was 7-time MP and four-term MLA.

Reddy born in Madugula of Mahabubnagar district of Telangana in 1942 and joined politics as a student leader of Osmania University. He represented Mahabubnagar and Miryalaguda in the Lok Sabha for five times. He was Rajya  Sabha member for twice and Leader of the Upper House from 1991-92.

Reddy left Congress Party opposing imposition of Emergency and joined Janata Party. He was General Secretary of the Janata Party for three years. His body has been shifted to his residence in Jubilee Hills.
