Kukatpally MLA M Krishna Rao has said that the government has suspended Kukatpally MEO in regard to the New Century School shed collapse incident. He also revealed that two persons of New Century School were in the custody of police and the police were interrogating them. DCP Venkateshwara Rao was informed they filed the case against school management and three police teams were searching for the management members, who were at large after the incident.
He said that the government will extend Rs.5 lakh ex-gratia to the families of the students who died in the mishap on Thursday. The government was also bearing the expenditure of the students undergoing treatment in hospitals, he informed. Krishnarao also informed that the government will provide admission to the 170 students pursuing their education in New Century School in another school to ensure that their academic year will not be lost.
District Education Officer (DEO) Vijaya Kumari said that the department will initiate steps to see that the students would not to lose their academic year by making them join in another school. She informed that the department will discuss with another school management on fees issue. She assured that she will see that the fee burden will not fall on the parents.
On the other hand, the GHMC has decided to desecrate the unfinished constructions in the New Century School.
Meanwhile, many student unions have attacked the New Century School today. They barged into the school premises and destroyed the furniture. They also destroyed the school bus. On knowing the incident, the police reached the spot and obstructed the attackers. On the other hand, the officials seized the school while responding to the incident in which two children died when the shed collapsed on Thursday. Five another students who were injured severely were taking treatment at a hospital.
