At the directive of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the State government made a deposit of Rs 3.30 crore, providing an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of 66 workers who died in the Gulf, transferring the funds directly to their bank accounts on Friday.
In a statement, former MLA and Chairman of the Telangana Mineral Development Corporation, Anil Eravathri, mentioned that he had collaborated with Special Chief Secretary (Finance and Planning) K. Ramakrishna Rao to facilitate the disbursement of the funds as instructed by the Chief Minister.
He detailed that the payment was made to 28 families in Nizamabad district, 19 in Jagtiala, 9 in Kamareddy, 7 in Nirmal, along with 66 families each in Medak, Ranga Reddy, and Sangareddy districts.
Anil Eravathri further noted that in a previous round of funding, Rs 5.15 crore was distributed to 103 families, bringing the total disbursed for the financial year 2024-25 to Rs 8.45 crore for 169 beneficiaries.
