Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced that the central government will soon be presenting a fugitive economic offenders bill before the Parliament. The idea is to prevent economic offenders like Vijay Malayya and Nirav Modi from fleeing the country.
While addressing a gathering in Dadra Nagar Haveli, Rajnath said, “Opposition levels allegations that some Nirav (Modi) and (Mehul) Choksi fled abroad. We will present a fugitive economic offenders bill before Parliament. Earlier, offenders used to flee abroad and their properties were not seized. Now, their properties will be seized under the bill.”
