President Kovind accorded warm welcome by Sikkimese monks

President Ram Nath Kovind visited Lingdum monastery in Ranka on Friday as part of his two-day visit to Sikkim beginning today. He was accompanied by Sikkim governor Ganga Prasad. The President was received and welcomed at the monastery by Garwang Rinpoche and Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, among others.

Mr Kovind was given a traditional welcome by monks of the Lingdum monastery through the display of Singhi and Mask dances. The President offered prayers at the monastery and interacted with monks. Mr Kovind had reached Gangtok earlier today on a two-day visit to the Himalayan state. He is scheduled to attend the Sikkim University’s convocation ceremony tomorrow.
