Prepare for another struggle for water, Harish Rao exhorts partymen

Harish Rao

As Congress has completely stalled the Sangameshwar and Basaveshwar irrigation projects leaving farmers in distress, the BRS would launch widespread protests in Zaheerabad, Sangareddy, Narayankhed, and Andole constituencies.

Former minister and MLA Harish Rao urged BRS cadre to step up the fight and hold the Congress government accountable and demand immediate for completion of irrigation projects to fulfil KCR’s vision of providing water to four lakh acres.

Harish Rao held a crucial meeting with MLAs, former MLAs, and key leaders of Sangareddy district at his residence in Kokapet on Friday.

The meeting focused on devising a strategy to pressure the Congress government into resuming the stalled Sangameshwar and Basaveshwar lift irrigation projects.

Since coming to power, the Congress government has completely ignored these crucial irrigation projects, leaving thousands of farmers struggling for water.

These projects were originally launched by then Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on February 21, 2022, in Narayankhed, yet there has been no progress in the last 14 months. Farmers in Narayankhed, Andole, Sangareddy, and Zaheerabad constituencies are bearing the brunt of this negligence, as their lands remain dry due to the government’s failure to act.

BRS has decided to launch mass protests in the affected command areas, demanding immediate completion of these projects. Party leaders will mobilize cadres and farmers to put pressure on the Congress government.

BRS will not remain silent while the ruling party ignores the needs of farmers and delays irrigation projects that are crucial for the region.
Harish Rao urged BRS workers and leaders to be fully prepared for an organized struggle, ensuring that farmers’ rights are protected and that the Congress government is held responsible for its negligence.

“We will fight until the Sangameshwar and Basaveshwar projects are completed, ensuring irrigation for four lakh acres as envisioned by KCR,” Harish Rao asserted.
