PM Narendra Modi unveils projects worth around Rs 15,000 in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects worth around Rs 15,000 crore in Odisha on Monday during his day-long visit to the state. These projects are related to health, road and highways, higher education and culture. These projects are part of Mr Modi’s vision of Purbodaya – a prosperous East for building a new India. Among the projects, the Prime Minister dedicated the new campus of IIT-Bhubaneswar at Aragul built at a cost of 1660 crore rupees.

 Mr Modi also inaugurated ESIC hospital in Bhubaneshwar costing 73.5 crore rupees. He also inaugurated the Lalitgiri Archaeological Museum which houses huge sculptures of the Buddha and various Buddhist deities. Mr Modi also released a commemorative coin and a postage stamp in memory of Paika Rebellion at a function in IIT Bhubaneswar.

This year marks 200th anniversary the 1817 Rebellion led by Buxi Jagabandhu of Khorda district against the Britishers. Addressing a public meeting at Barunei near Khurda today, the Prime Minister hit out at the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha, saying the demon of corruption in various sectors has become strong in the state. He also criticized Odisha government for not adopting the Centre’s mega health scheme Ayushman Bharat.
