MLC election- Campaign reaches a Crescendo

With only  three days left for campaigning in the MLC election from Graduates constituency,  the contesting candidates and political parties have stepped up  Electioneering in the past few days. Polling in the Hyderabad–Rangareddy–Mahboobnagar and Nalgonda–Khammam–Warangal graduates constituencies is scheduled for March 14.

Presently,  the Hyderabad—Ranga Reddy–Mahboobnagar seat is held by Ramchander Rao of BJP,  while the Nalgonda–Khammam–Warangal seat was represented by Palla  Rajeshwar Reddy of the ruling TRS. While the two are in the field now from their respective parties,  the TRS nominated former Prime Minister late P V Narasimha Rao’s daughter S Vani Devi, who runs a group of education institutions, as its candidate from Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahaboobnar, while the BJP fielded Premender Teddy as its candidate from Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal seat. The Congress party nominated Chinna Reddy from Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy- Mahaboobnagar and Ramulunaik from the other constituency.  Apart from them, former MLC Dr K Nageshwar  (Independent) from Hyderabad and  TJS Chief Prof M Kodandaram and Telangana Inti Party Chief Cheruku Sudhakar from NWK are the serious contenders in the field. The left parties  are supporting an Independent   in one constituency and fielded it’s own candidate in the other. All the candidates and their respective party leaders are intensively campaigning for success in the election.

Observers feel that the selection of Vanidevi by Chief Minister KCR as TRS candidate for HRRM seat is a master stroke and it is going to have some impact in favour of the TRS. Ministers,  MPs,  Legislators and other leaders are  campaigning for the TRS candidate,  while MPs, legislators and others are canvassing for the BJP and Congress nominees. Dr Nageshwar,  Prof Kodandaram, Ch Sudhakar and  others in the fray are also having their supporters who are campaigning vigorously.

The TRS,  BJP and Congress parties are levelling charges and counter-charges against each other on one hand and high lighting their programmes and achievements on the other, while the Independents are projecting on the failures and negative factors of the three parties.
