Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy today said he was happy to celebrate this festival amidst the women, who are shaping the future of the country’s mining sector and added that he was proud to say that not only the mining sector but also the energies of the women were leading the country forward.
He said the daughters of this country were creating history by paving the way for fulfilling the dream of a blossoming India in 2047.
“Where a woman is worshippe Shastras and Puranas tell us that there are gods there.
That is why their self-confidence in all sectors, not just the mining sector, is helping the country move forward. When I was minister of state for home affairs, I felt very proud that even at 50 degrees temperature at the Jaisalmer border, young women from the Border Security Force were holding guns and guarding me.
Even in Kashmir, women forces of the BSF are on duty with utmost diligence even in the temperature of minus degrees. The women of India became Maa Durga and saved the country. She became Mother Lakshmi and saved the economy. She became Goddess Saraswati and imparted knowledge to the nation.
Maitreyi was the country’s first woman philosopher. Everyone was amazed at her intelligence and wisdom. Queen Rudrama Devi fought bravely to save the kingdom. She is also credited with ensuring that people are prosperous. Similarly, women are powerful. There is a need to rewrite the history of our country,” he said.
Addressing a gathering at Taj Vivanta hotel in the city on the occasion of International Women’s Day, he said they were celebrating the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar and Ahilyabai played a key role in maintaining good governance as well as preserving the country’s cultural and historical heritage.
He said women’s empowerment in India was a part of our culture and added that India was moving towards a developed India by 2047. He said the real development takes place only when the role of women is 50% and added that they also need to bring about a change in their thinking.
“This development is not about making women beneficiaries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards making women participate in this journey. The main objective of our government is to recognise the power of women at every step of the society.
Modi has constructed 11 crore toilets under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to further enhance the dignity of women. There was a time when we used to laugh when we talked about Beti Padhao. But now that we have seen the sex ratio, people are understanding Modi’s thoughts. Also, the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, set up for the future of girls, was not understood.
