KCR completed irrigation projects ignored by past Govts: Harish

Finance Minister T Harish Rao today criticized that the previous governments caused migration, suicides and hunger deaths due to their negligence.  The Minister was replying to a query in the Council to a query by Palla Rajeshwar Reddy that whether checkdams increased cultivation of land and groundwater level in the state.

To address the irrigation water problem Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is determined to get ample share of water from Godavari and Krishna rivers. The minister claimed that the TRS Government has completed in record time the Kaleshwaram project in just three years. This was the history and KCR gets the credit for speedy completion of the project as we have completed Mallanna Sagar project with 58 tmc capacity in the region, he said. The Chief Minister has taken steps in three pronged manner to build big multipurpose, medium level and minor level irrigation works in the state. Lakes were revived and water level reached a new high with the steps taken by our government, Harish Rao said. In Godavari 968 tmc, and Krishna 268 tmc water was allocated temporarily to the state, he said. The groundwater level increased with our lakes revival program under Mission Kakatiya as the water comes gushing from wells and bore-wells in the districts.  Shepherds who used to visit neighbouring districts in Mahabub Nagar are now getting abundant water in their lakes and water bodies, he said. Ground Water table increased to 3.09 ft in the state and 6.30 ft in Siricilla district according to a recent report.

The CM gave powers to the officials concerned to address feeder channels, he said. Using NRGES scheme to remove silt from canals and about 3.50 lakh acres being irrigated through check dams.
