Former South African batsman and one of the best fielders in World Cricket- Jonty Rhodes has reportedly applied for the post of Team India’s fielding coach. It is worth mentioning that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited fresh applications for all the support staff including the head coach, instead of resorting to the earlier procedure of direct recruitment.
The current support staff, comprising head coach Ravi Shastri, batting coach Sanjay Bangar, and fielding coach R. Sridhar have been handed a 45-day extended contract following the World Cup, with all the aforementioned allowed to re-apply for the post. Jonty has arguably been regarded as one of the best fielders of all time. Jonty Rhodes has served as the fielding coach of the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians from 2009 to 2017.
