India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah was today ruled out of upcoming Test series against South Africa due to stress fracture in his lower back. He has been replaced by Umesh Yadav. In a release, the BCCI said Bumrah’s injury was detected during a routine radiological screening. He will now undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy at Bengaluru and will be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team.
Jasprit Bumrah has been phenomenal in recent times and was more than impressive in the Test series against West Indies. Bumrah was India’s wrecker-in-chief as he picked 13 wickets at an average of just 9.23 in the recently concluded 2-match Test series. The three-match Test series will begin in Visakhapatnam from October 2.
