Income Tax department conducted search and seizure operations at Siddhartha Group of Institutions owned by senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G Parameshwar in Tumkuru, Karnataka. Raids were also conducted on the group of educational institutions owned by another senior Congress leader R L Jalappa in Kolar.
Sources in the IT department said that these raids were conducted against the educational institutions allegedly regarding tax evasion on income from the collection of examination fees for the professional courses, that remain undisclosed to the tax authorities.
