Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, India can progress only if regional aspirations are met, adding, the NDA gives due regard to regional ambitions. Addressing a mega rally organized by the NDA partners in Tamil Nadu at Kilambakkam near Vandalur on the outskirts of Chennai last evening, Mr Modi said, as a diverse nation, the aspirations of the people at the village levels must be heard.

The Prime Minister remarked that if there is one party that abused Article 356, it is the Congress that dismissed state governments more than fifty times, just for political differences. Taking a dig at the DMK-Congress alliance in Tamil Nadu, he said the DMK has also been a victim of insults by Congress, though the DMK’s opportunism has prevailed over values now.

Seeking to strike a chord with the masses in the state, Prime Minister Modi recalled the legacy of the AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran, saying he remains one of the most respected icons in Indian politics. He announced that Chennai Central Railway Station would be named after him.
