ICFAI Tech organizes Workshop on Climate Change and Awareness

ICFAI Tech, Hyderabad in collaboration with Paritantra, its official Environmental Club, hosted a day-long workshop on “Climate Change and Awareness” at the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education campus on 7th January 2025.  The workshop aimed to educate participants about the urgent global challenges of climate change.

Mr. Rituraj Phukan, Director, Human Climate Interaction Initiative, provided a comprehensive overview of climate change, its global and national impacts, and the urgent need for decarburizat         ion efforts in alignment with international agreements like the Paris Accord. His talk underscored the importance of immediate and collective action to mitigate climate challenges.

Addressing South Asia’s escalating water crisis, Mr. Karunakar Reddy, Founder and CMD of SMAAT India Pvt. Ltd., and Chief Editor of IMO, delved into the socio-economic implications of water scarcity and offered sustainable management strategies. His inspiring commitment to nurturing a plant for 1,000 days served as a call for personal responsibility in environmental conservation.

Dr. Soumitra Das, Chairman and Executive Director of the Human Climate Interaction Initiative, delivered thought-provoking talk on understanding climate change and innovative climate interventions. He discussed cutting-edge solutions, including reflective materials and stratospheric aerosol injection, stressing the importance of technological advancements and collaboration in combating climate issues. The workshop also featured interactive group discussions where participants brainstormed practical solutions to real-world climate challenges.

 Prof L S Ganesh, Vice-Chancellor of ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education in his opening remarks, emphasized the critical role of academic institutions in driving environmental consciousness. Prof.S. Vijaya Lakshmi, Registrar discussed about the climate change in day-to-day scenario.  Dr K L Narayana, Director of ICFAI Tech, highlighted the university’s commitment to sustainability and its vision for empowering future generations.
