Rain fury continues to haunt many parts of Kerala

Most parts Northern and central Kerala is witnessing very heavy rainfall, causing widespread damage.  A warning has been issued in four districts Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad – following heavy spells of rain, gusty winds and landslides. Wayanad district is the worst hit. Relief operations by Defence, State and National disaster forces are in full swing. People are being evacuated from danger prone areas.

Water levels in most of the rivers and dams across the state have risen, flooding nearby areas.  Shutters of major dams are opened. The warning is issued to the people in the nearby areas. Around 4 deaths are being reported in various rain-related incidents in the state.

Meanwhile, authorities had declared holiday for all educational institutions in 11 districts. Exams of Universities and   Kerala PSC to be conducted has been postponed. As sea is expected to remain turbulent warning had been issued to fishermen not to venture into the sea in coming days.
