Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar has emphasised that the State government will take a hardline approach toward individuals who commit crimes, ensuring that no one in Telangana will evade consequences.
While addressing the Assembly on Wednesday, the Minister stated that the government will not shy away from implementing strict measures against those engaging in criminal activity, asserting that there will be zero tolerance for anyone involved in such acts.
During the Question Hour of the Assembly, as part of the Budget sessions, BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy brought attention to the attempted rape of a young woman at the MMTS station in Hyderabad.
“It has been two days since the assault occurred in the capital, yet the perpetrator remains at large, and the state’s law and order situation seems to be worsening,” Reddy remarked.
In response to these concerns, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar clarified that law enforcement has successfully identified and apprehended the suspect involved in the MMTS incident.
He mentioned that since assuming power, the Congress government has implemented reforms in the police department.
“The police maintain a friendly relationship with the public, yet they are firm in dealing with criminals. The state police should remain free from political involvement,” Ponnam stated.
