BRS party MLAs Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, MLCs Satyavathi Rathod and L Ramana walked out of the 3rd Public Accounts Committee meeting (PAC) in the Assembly today . The BRS party members spoke at the BRSLP office after they walked out of the public accounts committee meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Former minister and MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy said that the selection of the PAC chairman was undemocratic and added that This government had appointed their party’s turncoat MLA Arikapudi Gandhi as the PAC chairman and added that former minister Harish Rao’s nomination was rejected by the assembly speaker .
“This government has broken the age-old tradition of appointing the PAC chairman in consultation with the leader of the opposition. The last two PAC meetings were boycotted as per the party’s instructions. In the last PAC meeting, our party’s MLC Ramana requested the assembly speaker to consult the leader of the opposition and select the chairman and reconsider it.As there was no change in it, we protested and boycotted this meeting,” he said .
He also said that the case of the disqualification of the 10 BRS party MLAs , who switched over to the Congress party, was being heard in the Supreme Court and added that PAC chairman Arikapudi Gandhi was one of them.
“It is not fair to appoint Gandhi, who switched sides while the disqualification case is under trial, as the PAC chairman and hold meetings,” he said .
Former minister and MLA Gangula Kamalakar said that the 3rd PAC meeting was boycotted in protest against the appointment of an MLA who switched sides after stabbing in the back of the BRS party and appointed as the PAC chairman against traditions. He said that former minister Harish Rao should be appointed as the PAC chairman in place of Gandhi.
