Voting in 288 Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra, 90 Assembly seats in Haryana and bye-polls to two Lok Sabha constituencies and 51 Assembly seats across 17 states began at 7 am on Monday. The results are expected on October 24. As of 4 pm, over 50% of the electorate had cast their votes in Haryana, and over 43% in Maharashtra.
In Maharashtra, the main parties are the Shiv Sena- BJP alliance and the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party alliance. In Haryana, the BJP is locked in a tight contest with the Opposition Congress and the Dushyant Chautala-led Jannayak Janta Party for 90 Assembly seats.
