As vowed, Congress worker wears shoes after 15 years in Madhya Pradesh

At a time when politicians switch loyalties in the blink of an eye, a Congress worker spent 15 years walking barefoot as he had vowed not to wear footwear until the grand old party returns to power in Madhya Pradesh. A smiling Durgalal Kirar, who is a native of Rajgarh, completed his pledge by donning a shoe in the presence of Congress Chief Minister Kamal Nath and ex-CM Digvijaya Singh at the PCC office on Wednesday.

Kirar, a staunch supporter of former CM Digvijaya Singh, vowed in 2003 not to wear a shoe until the Congress returned to power. Kirar never wavered even as his wait stretched to 15 long years and roamed around barefoot.

The middle-aged worker was delighted that CM Kamal Nath offered him shoes in the presence of other leaders. Kamal Nath also congratulated Kirar and workers like him on the formation of the Congress government in the state.
