Arun Jaitley gets full State honours

Senior BJP leader and former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was cremated at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi yesterday with full State honours. His son Rohan performed the last rites in the presence of leaders from across the political spectrum and scores of his admirers and party workers. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, BJP veteran LK Advani, party president and Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani and Ravi Shankar Prasad and Congress leaders Jyotiraditya Scindia and Kapil Sibal and others were present at the cremation ground.

Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Delhi were also there. Earlier in the day, Arun Jaitley’s body was kept at BJP headquarters in the national capital for his admirers and followers to pay their last respects. BJP workers and mourners queued up in large numbers outside the party headquarters since morning to pay their last respects to the 66 year old leader. From there, his mortal remains were carried in a flower-decked gun carriage to the cremation ground. Arun Jaitley passed away at AIIMS on Saturday.
