Amid Opposition uproar, the government today introduced the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 in the Rajya Sabha. It also moved a resolution revoking Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the bill as well as moved the resolution in the House. Opposition members belonging from Congress, Left, TMC, SP, PDP, RJD and others created uproar in the House after the Minister’s announcement.
The agitating members are sitting in the well and raising slogans. Amid pandemonium, the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019 was introduced. Earlier, Leader of the Opposition, Ghulam Nabi Azad demanded discussion on the prevailing situation in the state. Mr Azad said curfew has been imposed and prominent leaders put under house arrest.
Home Minister Amit Shah said, government is ready to discuss every issue related to Jammu and Kashmir. Home minister Amit Shah has justified the repeal of Article 370. Mr Shah said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are not getting any benefits and the politicians are allowing corruption to flourish.
The Minister asserted Article 370 never helped Jammu and Kashmir join India and said, Jammu and Kashmir was already a part of India much before Article 370. Mr Shah said, Article 370 was accepted with the idea that it will eventually be removed but no political party had the will to do it.
