The Andhra Pradesh state government today entered into a Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with some prominent companies of the country like Hindustan Unilever, ITC and Procter and Gamble.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister of the State YS Jaganmohan Reddy said that the state government has shifted its focus on the women empowerment of the state. He said that the change was not possible unless it was ensured in the lives of those who are living at the grassroot levels of the society and in the rural economy. He said that they were trying to change the lives of the women of the state and added that they were launching YSR Cheyutha scheme on August 12 of this month. Reddy said that they would extend assistance to the women between the age group of 45 years to 55 years belonging to SC, ST, BC and minorities communities of the state. He made it clear that they were implementing the scheme in a transparent manner and on saturation basis.
The Chief Minister said that the women under the identified category of 45 to 55 years were discharging their family responsibilities but were ignored for a long time . He said that they would give ₹75,000 to the women selected under the scheme during the next four years at the rate of ₹18750 per Annum. He said that the assistance to be extended by the state government under the scheme should change the lives of the women.
