On the occasion of the eve of BR Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday, Union Minister Kishan Reddy washed the Ambedkar statue in GVK Circle of Banjara Hills from Khairatabad assembly constituency, as well as the Ambedkar statue in Sitaphal Mandi of Secunderabad constituency today.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had undertaken many programs to honour the work and legacy of Dr BR Ambedkar. “We are moving forward inspired by Ambedkar’s way of thinking.
Ambedkar’s portrait has been installed in the Central Hall of Parliament. Bharat Ratna is the highest award conferred by our government on Ambedkar .
The BJP government is calling 5 important places related to Ambedkar’s life as ‘Panchathirthas’. They have been developed as places of historical and cultural importance. We have developed these places so that they can visit and pay homage to them. The birthplace of Ambedkar Janmabhoomi in Mavu of Madhya Prades has been developed as a memorial,” he said.
“The Congress Party installed statues of many people, who entered politics after Ambedkar in Parliament. Ambedkar was not given the Bharat Ratna during the Congress regime.
Despite Dr Ambedkar’s unparalleled contribution to the drafting of the Indian Constitution and social justice reforms, the Congress did not give him the recognition he deserved. We urge people from all walks of life to make the Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations a success in a festive atmosphere,” he added.
