National dengue day observed

Nation Dengue Day observed on May 16, and as per the directions of the Minister MA&D K.Taraka Rama Rao, on this occasion GHMC conducted several awareness programmes in the city on to prevent and control of spread of mosquitoes and control of Dengue disease said Addl. Commissioner (Entomology and Sanitation) . Rahul Raj.

GHMC Entomology wing organized awareness programme in Bojagutta in Mehdipathnam and Exhibition grounds Nampally,  live demo presented to the public on life cycle of mosquitoes and breeding sources of mosquitoes. Later arranged awareness programme in GHMC Head Office, Where Sri.Rahul Raj, explained that one mosquito can lay eggs (Larva) and produce lakhs of Mosquitoes in its life span and these larva transforms in adult mosquito within 8 to 10 days. Between these days if we able to empty the water from these breeding sources we can eradicate the spread of mosquitoes and also from Dengue and Malaria diseases.

Further said,  Keeping in view of past experience, we are taking preventive measure in systematic manner said the  Rahul Raj. The Entomology wings focusing mainly on drainage, open spaces, slum areas and lakes. Similarly the people ensure neat and clean in their surrounding areas like, home, offices, water tanks, by removing water once in a week and also requested to remove stagnated water, from the items like waste plastic bottles, dry coconut, unused tyres, flower pots etc.

Chief Entomologist Ram babu, Sr. Entomology Laskhmaiah and others participated in the programme.
