From now on, students appearing for Classes 11 and 12 examinations under the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) will have a total assessment of 600 marks instead of the previous 650 marks. This pattern of exam will be applicable from this academic year.
The school education minister announced last week that the original 50 marks which were being carried by the subject Environmental Science (EVS) will be converted into grades along with the newly introduced subject Water Security for Classes 9 to 12. Water Security will be incorporated in EVS in Class 12 and it will be a separate subject for Classes 9 and 10.
The move aims to make students aware of water conservation and environmental factors in the country and globally. “The aim is to let them understand the gripping issues in the world and in our country. Schools and colleges are advised to include activity-based and practical-based learning in the syllabus” a senior official from the Board said.
