Shaheen Afridi picked up six wickets to help Pakistan end their World Cup 2019 campaign on a high as they beat Bangladesh by 94 runs at Lord’s in London on Friday. Pakistan won the toss to bat first – as they would not have been able to win if they had been put in to bowl due the run rate calculations. They needed to beat the world record ODI cricket win (290 runs) to go through to the World Cup semi-final. But they only managed to score 315-9 which meant they needed to restrict Bangladesh to less than seven runs.
Bangladesh surpassed this total inside the first two overs to send Pakistan OUT of the competition. Chasing a target of 316, Bangladesh lost both their openers inside 11 overs. Two matches will be played tomorrow. India will play already knocked-out Sri Lanka at the Headingley in Leeds.
The match will begin at 3 p.m. India are already assured of the second spot and a last-four spot, a win against Sri Lanka can take India to the top of the points table provided Australia lose their final game against the already ousted South Africa in Manchester. South Africa-Australia match will start at 6 p.m.
