Djokovic starts Wimbledon title defence with win

Top seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia started his defence of the men’s title by beating Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 in straight sets in Wimbledon Tennis.  Djokovic is aiming for a fifth Wimbledon title and a 16th Grand Slam. The world number one will play American Denis Kudla, who beat Tunisian Malek Jaziri, in the second round.

Kevin Anderson and Stan Wawrinka have also progressed to the second round. Anderson defeated Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 and Wawrinka got past Ruben Bemelmans 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. In Women’s Singles, Karolína Plíšková and Simona Halep entered the second round. Plíšková beat Zhu Lin 6-2, 7-6 and Halep defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 7-5.
