Heavy rain lashes Mumbai, leads to waterlogging in some areas

Rains lashed several parts of Mumbai city including its neighbouring areas after a prolonged dry spell. The city experienced rain three days after the announcement of the onset of south-west monsoon in Maharashtra. The morning spell helped bring down the temperature to 27 Degrees Celsius.

According to the weather bureau, the Colaba observatory has recorded 4 mm rainfall till 11 am on Friday while Santacruz observatory has recorded 95.6 mm rainfall. The weather department said intense spell of rainfall was expected in the districts of Greater Mumbai, Thane, Palghar.

Though the visibility at the Mumbai airport has been recorded as low, flight operations haven’t been affected barring one diversion around 9 am. Waterlogging was reported from various low-lying areas of the city leading to slow traffic movement.
