Chennai Super Kings will take on Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday. The match will begin at 8 PM. Delhi and defending champions Chennai, both have 16 points from 12 games and are at the summit of the eight-team points table. They are the only two teams that have, so far, secured a place in the playoffs.
Earlier in the season, Chennai had defeated Delhi by six wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. Last night, Royal Challengers Bangalore became the first team to get eliminated from the race to the playoffs after their match with Rajasthan Royals was abandoned due to rain at Bengaluru. Rajasthan leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal took a hat-trick in five overs a side game that was eventually called off due to intermittent showers.
Bangalore are at rock bottom in the table with nine points from 13 matches, while Rajasthan are fifth with 11 points from 13 games. Rajasthan, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings Eleven Punjab are all still in contention to seal a play-offs berth.
