Usually, the very thought of a bus station draws in one’s mind images of passengers bumping into each other, baggage scattered here and there, dingy buses parked under a shade and dirty toilets. An amalgamated air-conditioned mall with an AC food plaza, automated scanners at entry points, a VIP lounge, a bank, a post office and many more such facilities resembling posh township enhanced the travel experience of passengers with the state-of-the-art Alambagh bus station in Lucknow.

It is touted as the country’s best bus station in terms of passenger amenities. The modern, high-tech terminal, constructed at an overall cost of over Rs 232 crore. The swanky Alambagh bus terminal, spread on an area of about 2,50,000 sq ft, is a public-private partnership project undertaken together by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) and the Shalimar corporation.
